ON March 17, the Intellectual Property Rights Bureau of Jiading set up a work station in the National Exportation Base of Vehicle and Spare Parts of Shanghai in Anting Town. This is the first work station for intellectual property rights in Jiading, and will provide companies involved with vehicles and spare parts with various services and information on intellectual property rights.
Metro substation
On March 6, construction was completed on the first 110kv power substation of Metro Line 11. This substation costs 125 million yuan (US$18.28 million) and will improve the power supply for urban transportation by 63,000kva.
Famous brands
Twenty-four brands in Jiading have been named as Famous Brands of Shanghai. They include the Shanghai Dazhong Economy City, Shanghai Hugong Vehicles and Electric Appliances Co Ltd.
Model award
Recently the Ministry of Agriculture awarded the Jiading Modern Agriculture Park a "National Model Base of Agriculture Production." The Jiading Modern Agriculture Park has three zones - Green Food Zone, Subsidiary Agriculture Zone and High-tech Zone.
Food factory
On March 19, Shanghai Jinjiang Kirin Beverage & Food Co Ltd has set up a new factory in Anting Town. The factory plans to produce 4.5 million cases of the beverage this year, worth 150 million yuan (US$22 million). Student outing
On March 17, about 1,000 students from the Songjiang Experimental School of East China Normal University visited Jiading. They went to the Shanghai Automobile Museum and Shanghai International Automobile City, as well as Anting Old Street.
Technology development
The National Center of Supervision and Inspection on Motor Vehicle Products Quality (Shanghai) has developed new areas of scientific technology and made profits. To date, there have been 46 developments, 28 of which have been checked and accepted.
Flower power
This year, Waigang Town will spend 900,000 yuan (US$131,733) purchasing 9,000 calyx canthuses. The 10 varieties will change the industrial structure of flower cultivation in Waigang.
