Zone inaugurated to boost TCM development
THE launching ceremony of Jiading Traditional Chinese Medicine Zone was held in Beijing on December 28, 2012.
The TCM Zone aims to promote health care and development of Chinese medicine. Officials of Jiading hope the zone can attract pharmaceutical companies, researchers, famous doctors and medical schools.
Jiading has a profound foundation of TCM. At the end of the 1970s, Jiading County was selected to cooperate with the World Health Organization on an international preliminary health care center.
In 1986, Jiading Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital became a model TCM hospital at county level in China.
In 1995, Jiading became a leading rural area for TCM and passed the reassessment in 2012 with high marks. A network of TCM services has now been established in the district.
Following the launching ceremony, a promotion conference was also held in Beijing. Li Jian, president of Shanghai Jiading New Town Development Co Ltd introduced the present status of Jiading New Town and its future blueprint.
In the conference the Jiading government signed a framework cooperation agreement of seven projects with Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Shanghai Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine, including a TCM training center, a hotel, an ecological tourist program, a sports and culture center.
Five noted TCM experts including Chen Kaixian, Zhang Boli, Yao Naili, Yan Shiyun and Lu Jingen were invited as advisers to the TCM Zone.
