Bona Film headquarters: full-range cinema production

BONA Film Group, one of China’s largest film production and distribution companies, announced on June 18 that its Shanghai headquarters will open in the International Film and Television Park Circum-SHU.

The new facility will include film studios, screening halls, a film gallery, and an R&D center devoted to new film technologies.

The group has 12 new movie projects set to film in Shanghai over the coming years. These will be helmed by celebrated filmmakers like Ann Hui, Andrew Lau, Li Shaohong and Huang Jianxin. Several will also focus on local traditions and culture.

The film group has also reached a framework agreement with China Huarong Asset Management Co Ltd, the largest financial asset management company in China, on a separate culture-related venture based in the zone.

This project intends to raise 5 billion yuan (US$760 million) to fund investments, mergers and acquisitions in the cultural industry.

Officials said this venture will greatly bolster the cultural industry of Shanghai.
