A dedicated teacher who takes on hard cases
QIAN Jin, who lives in Pingnan Sansi Residential Area and has served as a teacher for 35 years, is still teaching those in need after retirement.
Now she takes children who have troubles with education as her students and helps them overcome their difficulties.
It began when Qian used to visit Gumei School and learned there was a student who had major problems with his education. Ever since he had been in grade three he had a bad approach to school and learning. Even his parents and teachers had given up on him. Qian asked for student's address and set out to change him.
After talking to his parents, she knew that this boy used to study at a school in Xuhui District. After he move to the new school he could not keep up with lessons and his marks got worse and worse. Because of this, he began to skip classes.
"I can help him," Qian assured the boy's parents. They agreed.
Qian went to his home and taught him personally?three times a week. Thanks to her efforts, the boy finally graduated and entered a high school.
After this, Qian began to take other troubled students and help them for free. Her students are often from single-parent families or are poverty stricken.
Once she takes a student on, she never gives up. Now many of her students have begun working and are elites of the society.
They never forget their teacher and often come to visit her.
"I just do something for my motherland because it grants me today's life," Qian said.
