Ah, green! Riverbank gets facelift
THE bank of the Huangpu River in Minhang District will be incorporated into a greenbelt zone in Shanghai.
Now under construction, the Riverside Greenery Area is expected to be completed next year, according to the Minhang Huangpu River Development Office recently.
The greenbelt will stretch from Humin Road to Lanping Road, covering nearly 3.7 square kilometers.
It will encompass a free public park and affect six towns.
Leisure and exercise areas will be provided, as well as space for outdoor performances and other cultural activities.
Improvements will also be made to area transport. Pujiang Road will be tripled in width, with new drainage systems, traffic lights and street lamps, said the office.
The Minhang Ferry Station, with service mainly linking Minhang and neighboring Fengxian district, will be moved to the intersection of of Lanping Road and the new Pujiang Road, about 300 meters away from its present location.
The upgraded station is part of a comprehensive water traffic hub planned for the future.
