Bird flu
All live-poultry trade in Minhang has been suspended amid mounting cases of bird flu reported in China. Consumers will have to settle for frozen chicken and ducks, and the government said it will consult with poultry farmers to minimize their business losses. Pigeon raisers have been notified to keep their birds locked up. The district has set up a clinic where flu cases can be reported. It will operate seven days a week, 24 hours a day. People suffering fever and respiratory symptoms are urged to seek medical help as early as possible.
