Campus life comes alive for dreamers

A project called "Walking into Your Dream University" began recently in Huacao Town, giving young people from migrant families the opportunity to visit one of four top universities in Shanghai: Jiao Tong University, Tongji University, Fudan University and East China Normal University.
"Tongji University is my choice," said Yu Yan, a fifth-grader. "My dream is to become an engineer."
Yu was among the 120 students with stellar grades at a local elementary school for children of migrant workers.
The students visit libraries, labs and other facilities to experience one day in campus life.
"The purpose of this activity is to help students set up positive goals in life," said Ding Jianfeng, secretary of the Youth League Committee in Huacao Town. "The students love these one-day tours."
The youth league has organized programs for elementary students to make handicrafts and sell them at charity events to raise money to sponsor the one-day tours.
