Cardio center conducts charity surgery for poor
THE three-year-old Zhang Meihui has been in hospital for two months and undergone two heart operations. She recently left the Cardiovascular Center of the Pediatric Hospital of Fudan University.
The surgery she experienced was done at no cost to the family, a service performed up to twice a week at the hospital's Cardiovascular Center.
It is part of the service offered to poor community members by the center developed through a charity fund to help needy kids. Surgery and other operations conducted through the fund account for 15 percent of daily operations.
