Chunshen's new green belt brings nature home

A large-scale green belt in the northern side of Zhongchun Road opened to the public recently.

Covering 7,800 square meters, the Chunshen Green Belt extends more than 4 kilometers and links Zhongchun and Jixin roads.

One year ago the land was a discarded trash dump and before that it was site for work sheds for migrant construction workers.

During Minhang's greening project launched last year by the local government, many deserted areas have been renovated into green belts. Funded by the Xinzhuang Industrial Park, the Chunshen green space is planted with trees and flowers, and is designed with a pretty meandering river that runs through the area as well as having attractive small bamboo kiosks dotted around for visitors.

In addition the local green bureau revealed that before the National Day holiday this October, there will be another large green belt opened in the eastern side of Humin Road, the first one in the district to link the scattered mini riverbank parks together.

The new belt will connect Humin Road, the Chunshen River and the western bank of the Hengli River, extending more than 5 kilometers.
