Cloud Nine countdown commences

THE countdown has started toward the opening of the much-anticipated Cloud Nine Shopping Mall in Xinzhuang after years of construction.

The mall, located near the Xinzhuang Metro Station at the convergence of Xinsong, Humin, Xinjian and Xindong roads, is set to open by early February, according to developer CapitaMalls Asia.

The shopping complex includes an 80,000-square-meter shopping plaza and a 32-floor office building. The shopping area, with two floors underground and four above, will open first, said Fu Ming, marketing manager of CapitaMalls.

The mall incorporates a rooftop garden, a playground for children, a cinema, a karaoke club, a supermarket and a cluster of restaurants serving Sichuan, Cantonese and Ningbo specialties.

More than 80 percent of the L-shaped shopping plaza has been rented out. Among the retailers already signed up are fashion brand houses such as IT, CK Jeans and Bread 'n' Butter.

The mall is expected to become a commercial landmark in the area. It is surrounded by dozens of residential communities like Kangcheng and Xinzhuyuan, and is served by more than 10 bus routes.

The mall complex includes parking for 1,300 cars.
