A new Minhang central business district will open in Xinzhuang Town by the end of next year, developed by the Singapore-based Maple Tree Group in its biggest mainland investment.
The district will include the shopping mall Vivo City and seven office buildings with occupancy for 200,000 workers.
“The project consolidates the group’s investments in China,” said Quek Kwang Meng, regional Maple Tree CEO for China and India. “Since we entered the country in 2005, it has become our biggest overseas market.”
The main feature of the CBD will be its ecologically friendly environment. In Vivo City. A central air purifier will be installed to filter out pollution particles, such as PM2.5.
Even before completion, plans for the district won a bronze prize in global real estate awards for the best Chinese future mega project.
A central garden in the district and a rooftop garden in the shopping mall will mean that 40 percent of the project can be defined as “green.”
The new district will be located on Metro Line 12, and four exits of the Qixin Road Station will link Vivo City and the office buildings.
The Metro will link to other business centers in the city, such as Hongqiao, Xujiahui and People’s Square.
The office buildings are expected to open early next year, with Vivo City due to be completed by the end of next year, said the group.
