Compensation order
A property management company was ordered to pay 3,153 yuan (US$485) in compensation to a man who was hit by a bar when he passed by the entrance of his residential community on an electric bike, according to the Minhang District People's Court.
Zhu Jian sustained head and wrist injuries when a security guard unexpectedly lowered a bar used to prevent motor vehicles from entering the complex. Zhu had sought damages of more than 7,000 yuan. The company blamed Zhu for riding on the wrong side of the entrance. The court ruled that the company should pay 60 percent of the compensation to cover medical expenses.
