District keeps National Park Area status

MINHANG has passed a reassessment of its designation as a National Park Area by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development.

District greenery authorities said the standards for retaining that designation are strict. They include examinations of park management efficiency, promotion of landscaping along boulevards and creation of new greenbelt areas.

The Minhang District Greenery and Public Sanitation Administrative Bureau said the district had more than 873 million square meters of greenery areas at the end of last year, double the greenbelts and parklands of the early 1990s. Seventeen new parks have been created in the past two decades.

Plans are also underway to restore more than 120,000 square meters to greenbelt zones and to create another 25 parks.
