Drug supply goes digital at Gumei center

AN advanced "Digital Pharmacy" has swung into use at Gumei Community Health Center since July 1.

It involves patients' electronic prescriptions being automatically transmitted to the pharmacists' PDA.

Medicine sales information feedback is passed to the supplier's computer through the Internet. When a certain medicine reaches "lower limits," the system will spur the supplier to replenish stocks.

Recently, Minhang Health Bureau has made clear that the digital system will be used at all levels of the hospital before the end of the year.

The "Digital Pharmacy" helps to shorten patients' waiting time receiving medicines. It has proved to be convenient and efficient.

The logistics outsourcing based on information technology further shortens supply and marketing processes and reduces the cost of logistics procurement.

An extension of the "Digital Pharmacy," a "Digital Transfusion Room," will be opened at Gumei Community Health Center soon.
