Early start for bridge project

THE steel truss project on the Minpu Bridge II has started. It is set to be finished this November. When completed by the end of this year, the bridge will boast China's longest span at 251 meters. The whole project is 5,800 meters long.
Starting from Dongchuan Road, crossing the Huangpu River and ending at Xizha Road, this cable-stayed double-decked dual-purpose bridge for road and light rail traffic links the Minhang and Fengxian districts.
Its upper layer is a two-way four-lane highway and the lower section is for Metro Line 5. When finished, residents living in Fengxian can have a new option for traveling downtown area as well as the A4 Highway and ferry ride. And the journey time will be reduced by more than 30 minutes.
