Gumei has opened an education community office encompassing eight neighborhood schools. Xu Mingyi, deputy director of the community, said it will play a pivotal role in promoting balanced development of educational resources. It has started a course called Awake that aims to instill imagination, leadership and critical thinking in fifth- to seventh-grade students.
