THE newly opened Xindong branch of British-based retailer Tesco is among the stores of its kind in China to install a carbon dioxide refrigeration system designed to significantly cut the use of freon and the discharge of greenhouse gas. It is expected to save 1.18 million kilowatt-hours of electricity and cut carbon discharge by 1,176 tons a year.
