Education is on the march in Minhang, whose 220,000 students represent an eighth of all students in Shanghai.
The district has 402 educational institutions and 22 facilities for youth. The government plans to build 15 more youth centers to achieve the goal of one every kilometer.
The district offers courses related to culture in the youth centers. Among the 104 courses are porcelain making, egg-shell painting and specimen collection.
Courses focus on practice rather than theory. Parents are invited to the centers to keep children company.
Students can make reservations for courses and find out information about them online with their student cards.
