LARGE retailers in Minhang reported combined sales of 146 million yuan (US$23.21 million) during the seven-day Spring Festival holiday, an 11 percent increase from the holiday period last year. The group included 36 retailers. Separately, 18 restaurants in the district chalked up 1.83 million yuan in sales on the eve of the Chinese New Year's Eve, a traditional time for family reunion dinners. That was up 19 percent from a year earlier, reflecting higher prices. The number of tables served decreased by 1 percent.
