Hotline opens

MINHANG has opened a 24-hour service hotline to handle resident complaints and suggestions related to urban management.

For tip-offs about illegal business activities, construction, medical practices and other threats to public health and safety, callers may receive rewards ranging from 100 yuan (US$14.66) to 300,000 yuan.

The district said every call will be handled confidentially in a timely and efficient manner. On instances of illegal construction, for example, inspectors will turn up at targeted sites and publish the results of their findings within hours.

Public officials who fail to handle problem efficiently may have points knocked off their annual personnel evaluations.

The hotline number is: 96-6110
