The Minhang government has adopted a new policy to encourage innovation in district companies. Enterprises that win designation as “national innovative corporations” will receive 1 million yuan (US$162,888), while those designated as “Shanghai innovative companies” will get 300,000 yuan. The government will also award subsidies ranging from 300,000 yuan to 5 million yuan to research institutes, including those set up with foreign investment.
