Insurance plan helps hard-up workers
MINHANG will pay a total of 10 million yuan (US$1.47 million) insurance for local residents suffering from physical disabilities and financial difficulties, an innovative way to help them find jobs.
Employers have to pay nearly 900 yuan in insurance each month for local employees with physical disabilities or financial difficulties, and this is a major concern when a company hires these workers.
"To employ a local costs much more than a migrant or a temporary worker, who doesn't need social insurance," says Zhou Miaoguo, office director of the local Human Resources and Social Security Bureau. "Now employers don't need to worry about that. The government will pay for it."
"It will be much easier for me to find a job," says Zhang Ruchang, a laid-off worker. "Now I'm more confident that I can find a job."
