Jobs scam arrests
MINHANG police nabbed three people involved in a number of job scams. Starting in January, fraudsters posted job application information online, posing as legitimate employment agencies. Police said victims were promised jobs that didn't exist and paid as much as 1,200 yuan in recruitment and other fees. Most victims are migrant workers, and many of them didn't notify police due to the small sums of money involved. Police have asked victims to come forth because a compensation claim against the swindlers can't be filed unless the total sum of the fraud reaches 10,000 yuan.
