The lights went on along Yuanming Road more than 10 years after the 560-meter roadway was built in the Xinzhuang Industrial Park. The lack of lighting was a safety hazard for workers in the parkís factories. There are now 18 streetlights along the road in an area that used to be designated for agriculture.
