Mart for migrants
MINHANG has constructed a market targeted at migrant workers building affordable housing in Pujiang Town. The market sells groceries and daily necessities.
Minhang urban management officials said the market was designed to replace the helter-skelter of stalls set up around the construction site to serve workers. Those makeshift shops blocked traffic and sold poor quality goods.
Authorized vendors can set booths in the market without rental fees, as long as they provide health and food safety certificates. About 36 booths are now operating there, officials said.
The market is expected to be expanded in the future, with a capacity for 150 booths.
