FOR bookworms enjoying summer holidays, a reader corner has been set up for students in the Wujing Culture and Sports Center on Longwu Road. The large array of books available for reading there include fiction, fair tales, science and art.
A shadow play art exhibition will be held at Minhang Art Museum through July 25. It will feature props, characters and setting dating back to the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911).
Resident of Wujing Town has observed the International Day Against Drug Abuse with a series of films and lectures. Flyers warning of the danger of drug use were distributed.
Minhang District students have been participating for six months in a special program focusing on ballads in the Shanghai dialect. Students from 40 schools staged performances and even participated in a ballad contest. The program aimed to highlight folk culture as reflected in ballads.
Reconstruction work at Hanghua and Huacao parks was completed recently. The parks have reopened to the public with upgraded facilities and a new look.
