New campus opens for semester
THE Minhang Experimental School affiliated to Shanghai International Studies University (SISU) opened to students in Minhang for the new semester.
As a nine-year school, it offers bilingual teaching under the support of SISU.
The district also asked famous schools outside Minhang to manage its schools under the trusteeship system for better development.
Shangwen Middle School in Huangpu District was asked to manage Minhang's Pujiang No. 1 Middle School for two more years after it successfully finished its previous two-year trusteeship.
Shanghai No. 8 Middle School in Huangpu District was also invited to manage Minhang's Luoyang Middle School.
Eight new kindergartens opened this semester to meet the increasing number of children in the district. It is expected 42,000 children will enter kindergartens this year, ranking No. 2 in the city.
One thousand kindergarten teachers will receive training and 10 kindergartens will be under renovation in the second half of this year to improve education quality.
Education officials are planning for future peak enrollments at primary and middle schools, and are asking more universities to introduce teaching resources.
