Online marketing revives nursery trade

SHOPPING online is all the rage and despite 50 years of conventional marketing, Minhang Nursery is also following the trend.

Last year the nursery launched its online shop on Taobao.com and established its marketing Website with Alibaba.com.

Via the Internet, the nursery has gained great popularity and attracted lots of buyers.

In the past few years the nursery experienced the downturn of a shrinking market.

Branding was not the nursery's specialty until it found a solution in Internet marketing.

Now if you log onto the Website (www.mhmiaopu.com) or the online shop on Taobao.com, you can easily find all information about flower plants available in the nursery.

As the prices fluctuate, the nursery staff do daily updates.

What's more, online communication on Taobao.com is also available, offering more convenience for customers and the nursery.

"We planned to use Alipay for trading," says an official of the nursery. "But unfortunately we did not reach an agreement with the express company."

That's why only a few deals have been made in the online shop up to now.

"The Website serves as an information platform," the official said.

"Lots of customers, especially buyers from other cities, came to our nursery after checking it out on the Internet," he added.

With the help of the online shop, Minhang Nursery expanded its business by 10 percent last year.
