GENERAL practitioners in Minhang District will be trained by medical personnel at the hospitals of Fudan University in an effort to improve health care for local residents.
It’s part of a joint program announced by the Minhang government and Fudan to share resources that include Zhongshan Hospital, Huashan Hospital, Fudan University’s Children’s Hospital and Fudan University Shanghai Cancer Center.
Training
Fudan will provide three years of training for 394 general practitioners in Minhang, bringing them up to the same standard as doctors at its hospitals.
Huang Taocheng, an official with Minhang’s Health and Family Planning Commission, said the partnership will give suburban residents access to better medical services without having to travel far from home or pay higher costs.
Minhang District Central Hospital and the district’s Mental Health Center will also become affiliated with Fudan University, and a new university stomatology hospital will be built in this district.
Stomatology is a branch of medicine relating to the mouth and mouth diseases.
