Porsche center sets a record
The Shanghai Minhang Porsche Center, the largest of its kind in China, said it has received a record number of orders for China in its first month of operation.
The center is not completely new to Minhang, according to Dong Fengnan, general manager of Minhang Porsche Center.
Though the exhibition and selling platform are making their debuts, the after-sale service center has been in Zhongchun Road for six years, winning high praise from customers.
The expanded center covers 20,000 square meters, including a 4,000-square-meter exhibition hall that can display 20 cars.
The after-sale service has been expanded from 10 to 21 maintenance stations and 19 sheet metal stations. The center also contains the biggest spare parts warehouse in China. Customers no longer have to book times for repairs, according to staff.
The Porsche center is built on environmentally friendly concepts.
A rainwater catchment system on the roof provides half of the water used in washing cars.
Special glass used in the exhibition hall helps reduce heat-exchange, saving energy for air conditioning. A heat pump system also saves energy when keeping room temperatures up in winter.
The Minhang Porsche Center boasts the only independent used-car exhibition hall in the national sales network.
“Profits from used luxury cars often exceed those from new-car sales in the West,” Dong said.
Jebsen Co, an investor in the center, is a Danish company specializing in high-end car sales and service. It has a long experience in the luxury used-car market.
The used-car market allows many consumers to enter the luxury car market on a tighter budget.
About 30 percent of the customers at the Minhang Porsche Center come from outside Shanghai.
