AUTHORITIES in Minhang said they demolished 610,000 square meters of illegally built structures in the first half of this year and plan to raze 250,000 square meters more by the end of the year. The district has an estimated 2.7 million square meters of illegal buildings, including housing, warehouses and businesses. Most are considered unsafe and block public spaces.
