Reconstruction of Xinzhuang Metro station

UNDER redevelopment plans, the Xinzhuang Metro station will be transformed into a major transit hub and commercial center. The project is expected to be completed in 2022.
The current terminus of Metro lines 1 and 5 will be transformed into a 700,000-square-meter complex, linked to the Shanghai-Hangzhou and Jinshan mainline railways.
The present station hall will triple in size when that segment of work is done in 2018.
Above the Metro lines will be a modern building and atrium on the south side. The so-called “hanging space” is expected to become a new landmark in Shanghai. Premium office space will be available, along with shopping malls that will complement the existing Parkson and Cloud Nine Mall in the area.
Three levels of underground parking at the hub complex will provide spaces for 3,000 cars.
