The first rental housing estate in the district opened in Xinzhuang in mid-October, providing 572 small flats for young people at a monthly rent of 2,200 yuan (US$249). Each flat is equipped with an entertainment area. The Shanghai Planning, Land and Resources Administration is seeking to earmark more parcels of land for residential leased units through 2030.
