Shaolin monks open district's new theater

MINHANG Theater forms a partnership with Eastern Shanghai International Culture Film & Television Group to manage it over the next five years.
The theater will open in December with Tony Awards nominee "Soul of Shaolin," which staged 24 performances in a Broadway theater, the first New York debut for a Chinese drama.
Minhang District Party Secretary Sun Chao and District Director Chen Jing attended the signing ceremony.
The performance season is divided into four parts: January and February will be a new year season; March to April and August to September will stage international shows; and in October and November audiences will see Minhang Art Festival, an international chorus festival and Chinese shows.
The first performance is scheduled to open on December 21. Ticket prices of the 1,112-seat theater will be kept affordable for local audiences, operators promised.
