Shuttle bus line makes it easier
MINHANG'S first community shuttle bus line was launched earlier this month and it's expected to ease the transport woes of residents in remote Pujiang Town as well as crack down on unlicensed taxis, or "black cabs."
The bus line connects the Jiangyue Road Station of Metro Line 8 and the Shibo Community in Pujiang with a ticket price of 1 yuan (US$0.15).
Four pink-colored, 18-seat, air-conditioned buses are involved. The bus times will coincide with the schedule of Metro Line 8, operating from 5:30am to 11:10pm. The bus interval will be 10 to 30 minutes.
The first bus line running through Shibo Community starting from the Jiangyue Road Station has 13 stops, linking a supermarket, five big communities, schools, a hospital and some other public facilities.
"I guess the black cabs and unlicensed motorcycles will no longer have the market," said Zhou Daye from the community, who was studying closely the bus line route.
Chen Bingfang moved to Pujiang Town two years ago and she said the area has been the base for many unlicensed motorcycles. "Only one stop costs five yuan, plus they always drive crazy on the street, which is very dangerous," Chen said.
Plans for three other bus lines have been devised for consideration by residents. They are Kangcheng-Xinzhuang Metro Station, Jiao Tong University-Metro Line 5 and the line around residential Jiangchuan Town.
