CUSTOMERS may face a dilemma at this time of year -- on one hand, there are sale signs everywhere, and on the other, new arrivals have entered the shop windows.
With limited funds, it's hard for many shoppers to make a choice, but there are some surprising discounts on offer if you know where to shop.
One Korean brand offers between 50 and 80 percent off its clothes at the Basic House factory store at Building A, 2163 Wanyuan Road near Yishan Road.
This factory shop makes Mind Bridge clothes for women and the I'm David range for men.
The outlet sells mostly women's clothes such as T-shirts, vests, sweaters, skirts and coats in various designs.
Some samples may be available from the current season but generally they are classic styles such as windbreakers and jeans.
Prices on the clothes in the factory store are original ones, and you should check the bar code for discount information.
For codes featuring the letter H, it's 60 percent off the price; For I or J, 50 percent, and for summer clothes or barcodes starting with SH, the discount is 70 to 80 percent.
Until next weekend, buyers who spend over 388 yuan will get a free bottle of hand-washing liquid.
Unlike some other factory stores, this one has good fitting rooms. But you had better come with friends as no purses are allowed in the fitting room.
On the 6th floor of the same building, shoppers can find a sale twice a year with several manufacturers offering clothing.
This month, there is a range of clothing from 2008 ranges with discounts of up to 90 percent.
Furs too are cheap, with discounted styles from last season costing just 75 percent of the original price. Accessories start at just 5 yuan (73 US cents) and sample clothing ranges cost from 15 yuan upwards. You may find goods of high quality here. You can't try clothes on or refund them, so know your size before visiting.
Two other brands are having sales promotions on the 7th floor. Room 702 features windbreakers made by M&G, with longer ones selling at 350 yuan and shorter ones for 220 yuan. Room 703 sells underwear by Korean brand Shh! at 100 yuan for a set, and there are also coupons and gifts.
