Space information for children

THE Shenzhou Spaceships, Long March Rockets, Fengyun Satellites ... how are they being launched? Children from Minhang will be able to learn the answers at Minhang Youth Center in two months.

Part of the Youth Center has recently been opened to the public and two popular science activity areas -- the Space Launch Simulation Center and Planetarium -- will also be completed by the end of this year.

In the Space Launch Simulation Center which features "Aerospace Minhang," teenagers can vividly experience how a real flight commander directs the rockets, satellites and spacecrafts to launch.

The Simulation Center can simulate different emission scenes according to different types of spacecraft.

In the future, with the development of China's space industry, the Simulation Center will be able to continually update the software and simulate the latest models.

There are also six Special Activity Areas in the Minhang Youth Center's Space Science Exhibition Hall, such as a rock-climbing wall, Miaomiao Studio and Family Theater.

It is estimated that the center will be able to accommodate over thousands of teenagers when it's completed.

The construction of other Special Activity Areas in the center will be completed and open to students in Minhang in the first half of 2010.
