THE 2010 ATP1000 Shanghai Rolex Masters took place from October 9 to 17 in Shanghai Qizhong Tennis Center. Some of the world's top players including Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic participated in the tournament. In the final on October 17, the young British player Andy Murray beat Federer and won his first championship in Shanghai.
The Shanghai Rolex Masters is part of the prestigious ATP World Tour. Such high-end tournaments only take place in nine cities all over the world annually, and Shanghai is the only Asian city. The first game took place in 2009, when Nikolay Davydenko won the first championship. And in that year, the Shanghai Masters tournament was selected by all the ATP players as "the best ATP1000 Master Game of the Year" with excellent organization and promotion.
Now, Shanghai has the permanent hosting rights of this ATP1000 Master Game, thanks to its previous success. In the past few years, Shanghai has held three Tennis Master Cups and seven Heineken Opens, which gave the city great experience and an international reputation as a host. In addition, the host of the Shanghai Rolex Masters has already made the ATP Tournament in September and October part of the Asian Series, which improves the position of Asia in world tennis circles.
