Tomb sweeping
MINHANG is bracing for a huge traffic flow at the upcoming Qingming Festival, or tomb-sweeping day, which falls on April 5.
About 250,000 people living in the district are expected to flock to cemeteries, mostly in the city suburbs or neighboring provinces, to sweep their ancestors? graves and offer sacrifices. Traffic official estimates there will be about 23,000 cars on the roads that day.
The peak days for tomb sweeping are March 26 and 27, and April 3-5. About 1.1 million people in Minhang are expected to head to cemeteries during the five days.
The Xianheyuan Cemetery and Fuleshanzhuang Cemetery in Minhang have set up free buses from the Tianxing Road Station of Metro Line 5 and the Aerospace Museum Station on Metro Line 8 from March 26 to April 5. Free buses will also transport passengers from Hexiangqiao in Maqiao Town to the Xianheyuan Cemetery.
