Unions working hard

UP to last November there were 5,110 unions in Minhang working with 12,666 companies, involving 490,000 members. More union branches will be set up for foreign companies and migrant workers in the district this year.
The number of union members increased by 97,000 over last year. Minhang District's General Trade Union has won awards for six consecutive years, and its efforts in setting up unions among non- state-owned businesses and foreign companies was also highly appreciated.
The district's trade union will continue to work on organizing unions for non-state-owned businesses this year, especially for Fortune 500 companies and businesses that have more than 500 employees.
It will also encourage more migrant workers in Minhang to join unions. A service center near migrant worker accommodation is being considered.
