Vegetarian diners offer healthy range of cuisine
EATING vegetables has always been a healthy way of life but it's also becoming increasingly popular and fashionable. In recent years, vegetarian restaurants have been developed offering new tastes for diners.
Some of these in Minhang include:
Leilapo Zen Tea Vegetable Restaurant
In recent years, "Leilapo" (Hot Woman surnamed Lei) has gained recognition. Experienced diners know that the boss is a straightforward Sichuan Province woman but she recently adopted Buddhism and opened new vegetarian restaurant.
Looking through the premises, it is not difficult to understand why there is a "Zen" in the name: the interior decoration is simple and elegant, and Buddhism classics are featured on the walls.
All the dishes are cooked in traditional stoves and even the rice is cooked over firewood, providing a unique flavor. The most popular food is a variety of porridge, such as black rice porridge, polenta and millet gruel.
The restaurant also offers food for people with diabetes. There are a variety of refreshments and fresh fruits for self service at 50 yuan (US$7.3) a person.
Free birthday food is available if you take your parents with you. Book at least one week in advance to allow sufficient time for staff to prepare birthday banquets.
