Vice squad seeks to break ring of call girls

Minhang police said they cracked down on an online prostitution ring involving more than 10 people.
The group was using several online chat groups to solicit business.
Police said the prostitutes disguised themselves as air attendants, postgraduate students, models or actresses. One call girl surnamed Wang created an elaborate 鈥渉istory鈥 for herself, claiming she was half-French, fluent in several languages and the runner-up in a world beauty contest.
鈥淭he more exotic the resume, the higher the fee they charged,鈥 said Chen Yunfeng, deputy director of the security team of the bureau.
鈥淭hey usually arranged to meet clients in luxury hotels or on short trips, with customers paying the cost. The girls were charging at least 5,000 yuan (US$787) a time for their services,鈥 he added.
Police said classier prostitutes can earn around 100,000 yuan a month.
Many spend big sums on plastic surgery in South Korea and buy luxurious skin-care products to make themselves look younger.
鈥淒uring our raids in Minhang, Putuo and Jing鈥檃n districts, we could hardly distinguish one hooker from another,鈥 said Chen. 鈥淚n interrogation, they told us that they all had undergone plastic surgery at the same Korean hospital.鈥
Prostitutes who attempt to parlay themselves into wealthy social circles with false resumes are called 鈥渙uter-ring girls.鈥 Many of their clients are the 鈥渟ilver-spoon kids鈥 of wealthy businessmen or public officials.
The case is under further investigation, said police.
