Who gets Expo gift and how
ACCORDING to Shanghai Government policy, the government will send out Expo gifts to Shanghai families during the World Expo. Not only local Shanghai citizens but also families from other cities, including foreign families, will have an opportunity to get the Expo gift. Here we explain some details of the policy in a Q&A style, hoping it will prevent you from missing your gift.Q: What will exactly be in the gift set?
A: There are five items for one gift set -- a letter of thanks, a public transport card, an Expo admission ticket, a Haibao mascot badge and a guide map of the Expo site. There are five styles of public transport cards, using a theme based on the central axis and four pavilions along it at the Expo site. On the card, a message of thanks in the name of Shanghai Committee of Communist Party of China and Shanghai Government is printed. It also includes a Haibao image, the logo of Expo 2010 and a code. The card is valued at 200 yuan (US$29.27), which can be fully used. It can also be recharged when the value is depleted, just like common cards.
Q: What kind of people can get it?
A: For Shanghai citizens, it requires the local household registration or permanent residence registration. Temporary residence registrations which have been active for over half a year can also get the gift. Foreign people should have completed a six-month registration period to get the gift. The gift is sent out in the family's name so that each family gets one set. The registration information will be subjected to the record of local public security bureau.
Q: When and how can I get it?
A: Different districts have different schedules. In Minhang, the process of gift sending has been scheduled to start in May and be finished by the end of June. From May 6-14, the neighborhood communities have already listed out families which fit the requirements, and the dispatch will take place from June 1-15. During this time, community staff will visit families one by one. All the families who receive the gift will be required to sign, and staff will affix a Haibao seal on your registration certificate. If you miss the sending period for whatever reason, you can also apply for a replacement from the community affairs service center of your own residential community.
