Work starts on civil defense hospital

CONSTRUCTION started recently on Minhang District's Civil Defense Emergency Hospital.
This underground facility on Husong Road will support ordinary hospitals during disasters, accidents or wars.
It will provide about 80 beds and support 80 medical workers. Departments of surgery, internal medicine, pediatrics, and so on will offer emergency services. Blood transfusions and surgery will also be provided.
With an electrical generator and a deep well, it will be able to operate self-sufficiently for 20 days.
Also to be used by Minhang Central Hospital, it will open in 2010.
