Xinqiao design company behind the Shanghai Pavilion
AS the host of Expo 2010, Shanghai's own pavilion has been a hot talking point among Shanghai citizens. Where is it? What will it look like? What will be inside exactly?
With these questions, we contacted the design company Shanghai Hip-Pop Construction & Decoration Design Company, looking for the answers.
Located in Xinqiao Creation Zone of Minhang District, the Hip-Pop Company was established in 2006, and headed by the famous designer Sun Tianwen, using mainly young talents.
According to their introduction, the Shanghai Pavilion is actually one part of the China Pavilion, which has been divided into 34 different zones, following the 34 provinces, cities and municipalities. Shanghai Pavilion will be the last one that visitors will see.
"It'll be a climax for visitors," said Sun.
All the 34 zones will be of the same sizes -- 30.1 meters long, 16.3 meters wide and 7 meters high. The total area will be about 500 square meters. Designers for every zone were asked to display their talents.
"It's the greatest challenge I've ever met," said Sun who has a very rich experience in decoration design.
"Every Shanghai citizen could list some of the city's features without thinking," said Sun. "Modern, fascinating, prosperous in economy ? what we can do is just to try our best to display every feature of the city."
