Zhaojialou's attractions beyond agriculture
Zhaojialou Old Town dates back to the early Yuan Dynasty (1279-1368). The town grew significantly during the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties.
One of the most impressive structures in the old town is Ligeng Hall, built during the Qing Dynasty. Originally the residence of a businessman surnamed Pan, the mansion boasts five courtyards and 138 rooms. Each wall and room in the residence is beautifully decorated with ancient art forms.
Another must-do when visiting Zhaojialou is to sample local specialties such as pig's tongue, shredded ham hock and Zhaolou boiled mutton.
