Opening up to a world of ‘Discovery’ and ‘Aspiration’
From Yangpu Bridge to Xupu Bridge, the 22-kilometer waterfront of the Huangpu River in Pudong has become one of the most popular destinations among residents and tourists.
Every each kilometer, there is a small pavilion facing the river called Wangjiang Yi, which literally means “post house overlooking the Huangpu River.”
Three of the pavilions were renovated last year and two of them opened last week with new themes. One of them located at the junction of Jimo Road and Binjiang Avenue is called “Discovery.”
The pavilion covers only 50 square meters, but the exhibits reveal the city’s rapid development of cutting-edge technology.
Visitors will find a superconducting maglev model which shows how a maglev train works, and a robot hand, which can take on complicated actions. The pavilion also plays host to science seminars and lectures from time to time.
The other pavilion, at the junction of Baibu and Binjiang avenues, is themed with red culture.
The pavilion named “Original Aspiration” will organize over 50 lectures on Shanghai’s red culture every year.
Residents can also visit the pavilion after dinner to watch a TV drama series on history every Friday.
The TV series’ production team has promised to turn up to discuss the film techniques and ideas behind shooting.
