Allocating resources for best schooling
Putuo is working hard to develop schools in Taopu, Changzheng, Shiquan and Caoyang communities, since allocating educational resources to maximize benefits has always been a priority.
The district has more than 150 schools and kindergartens in six subdistricts and three towns.
Schools in the south and east, closer to the city center, report stronger academic performance than those in the north and west. Hence, they are more popular among parents and students.
In a drive to improve the district’s overall quality of education, Putuo pairs the academically weaker middle schools and high schools with stronger ones in Shanghai.
The district collaborates with Tongji University, East China Normal University and Shanghai International Studies University to introduce new teachers, facilities and curriculum.
In the past three years, all Putuo students have had the opportunity to take classes in other schools, experience strong and innovative courses and learn from the best teachers.
Schools are developing their own specialty courses. For example, Jinyuan High School’s collaboration project in “structural design innovation” with the college of civil engineering at Tongji University.
