Putuo helps entrepreneurs boost economy
A primary focus for Putuo in economic development this year is to promote startup businesses and encourage more people to participate.
Using new policies and more opportunities, Putuo helped 526 people start their own businesses, creating more than 2,800 jobs, from January to October.
Entrepreneurs face many challenges when starting a business, including carrying costs, financing and finding projects and locations, as well as demanding customers and finding ways to promote their products.
The aim is to establish an entrepreneurial district. By launching a creative service platform, optimizing functions and gathering support, the district is expanding the number of people who benefit from the initiative, thus driving the economy.
For start-up businesses involving more than five people, or an individual who opens a business within a year of attending training and internships, the district government provides subsidies. College graduates who meet all the requirements and settle down in a startup hub get extra rent subsidies.
Allocating resources properly is another key in supporting young entrepreneurs. New hubs and parks including China 1912 Cultural Creative Industry Park and M50 in Taopu area cover most of the subdistricts in Putuo, providing space the entrepreneurs need at lower cost.
Throughout the year, the district planned four seasons of campaign events targeting different groups including women, young entrepreneurs, college graduates and small businesses.
In addition to hosting activities that provide personalized services to entrepreneurs with different needs, the Putuo Human Resources and Social Security Bureau also launched a multifunction real-time communication application for smartphones on WeChat, which provides information, updates and news on companies and events. Entrepreneurs can get answers to their questions on the platform.
In less than a month, the WeChat site attracted 800 followers. Subdistricts like Changzheng and Changshou also have opened Weibo accounts to assist users.
Consulting experts and volunteers have been providing instructions and helpful tips on registration, taxes, law, employment, management and marketing for entrepreneurs interested in starting new businesses.
