A rose by any other name would smell as sweet

ROSES are red - and yellow and pink and white. And now they are in full seasonal bloom.

One of the best places for viewing the most popular of flowers is the Chenshan Botanic Park, which features more than 500 varieties of roses.

A sea of color and an air of scented magic will engulf visitors to the park.

Some of the roses arch over trellises, providing great shots for camera enthusiasts, not to mention newlyweds. Tree roses as big as peonies also abound.

It's not only roses that are such a welcome attraction at the park. There are also medicinal herb gardens.

One of the cultivars is shan (literally mountain) ginger, which exudes a pleasure aroma and is used in the treatment of stomach aches, nausea and indigestion. Its root can also be used to alleviate swelling pains and remove dampness from the body.
